I am looking for a new back to school look. I never tried cream eyeshadow before. I don't even like powder eyeshadow. It comes off all messy on my eyes and flaky like( for the lack of a better term). I use make-up like maybelline and covergirl to experiment and I do a terrible job at make-up.
So anyway which is better and why?Which is better cream eyeshadow or powder eyeshadow? Why?
Powder is better than cream but what you could try is applying a primer before using the powder eye-shadow. Cream eye-shadow can sometimes look oily which is something you don't want.Which is better cream eyeshadow or powder eyeshadow? Why?
to tell you hun, it depends on the quality of the powder eyeshadow and if youre wearing an eyeshadow primer to make your eyeshadow stay long for the whole day.
i would DEFINETLY recommend Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion. everybody loves this eyeshadow primer. an alternative would be MAC Paint Pots or Too Faced Eyeshadow Insurance.
with an eyeshadow primer, not only does your eye makeup's staying power stay the whole day -- it also makes your eyeshadow blendable and the colour pigment of the eyeshadow is more brought out (vibrant)
youre gonna hate my answer;
in my opinion, i prefer powder eyeshadow over cream eyeshadow. because powder eyeshadow is so blendable.
i would also recommend using an eyeshading brush. MAC sells the best makeup brushes. the brushes are a really good investment.
and your problem also has a thing to do with the way you apply your makeup (makeup techniques, etc.). with practice and experience, you will learn to do your makeup so it looks good.
YouTube tutorials are a good way to start. :)
I like both, but powder is easier to work with if you know how to apply it. First of all, you should use a brush not the sponge applicators that come with shadows. After you put some shadow on the brush, tap the brush to remove the loose shadow. It would help to use an eyeshadow primer underneath, because it helps it stick and it will stay in place all day. If you use a cream shadow as a base, it will work like a primer. Once you learn how to apply it, if possible, buy better shadows like MAC. They last longer because the colors are richer, they have more pigment so a little bit goes a long way.
Use cream eyeshadow as a base for powder eyeshadow. A very small amount blended in well in the same color as the powder eyeshadow you are wearing will help make the color more vibrant and the staying power longer.
Before you use any eyeshadow use an eye primer such as urban decay primer potion or two faced shadow insurance.
I have used eyeshadow for years and have never found a cream eyeshadow I like wearing unless it is for a base.
okay i was watching a show where they make people over so they look younger and the make up artist was saying about powder make up and that they are good thought the powder may sprinkle on ur face then mess up ur foundation unless u dust a light powder on ur face so if comes of with out removing ur foundation, also that cream is more textured and gives a sheen or glow though if u dont have cream eyeshadow lip stick works too..... but i use powered cause its cheaper but i tried the lip stick it works but make sure it inst long ware or its hard to take off but cream is really easy to use and if u apply just a thin layer if is so light so don't over do creams but creams are more money but they are easily removed but they ware off and they kinda when u blink go up in ur creases of ur eyelid
If you know how to properly use powder, I would say it is beter becuase you can layer it and create depth with just one color/it stays on your eyes longer when applied corectly.
Cream eye shadow I think of more al little girls toy %26amp;dosnt realy work that great if your trying to look good/adult like %26amp;you cant realy get much more than the color in the tube.
since powder eyeshadow seems messy to you, try pressed powders. they're easier to mange that way.
if the eyeshadow is flakey, use urban decay eyeshadow primer. this will prevent the eyeshadow from being flakey and will stay on longer.
if you have done these things and still dislike it, try cream eyeshadow.
cream eyeshadow has a nice texture and is not flakey and will stay on your skin. but it will not look good if you apply it after the eyeliner.
it can be hard to apply if you're not used to cream eyeshadow. it's pretty hard when all they give you is a blunt edge to apply it on. so really, pressed eyeshadow is your best bet.
powder definitly lacks the same color effect. but sometimes if you are using pretty cheap creme eyeshadow it can bunch at the creases of your eyelids. how about trying a creme with powder over.? you'll get the same color depth withouth the creasing.
I like cream better. Powder looks more... well, powdery.
Cream goes on nice and smooth, and usually has more of a shimmer to it. It is also easier to work with, and isn't as messy. Powder is too pigmented, and application is harder for me.
I prefer powder.
If you add a primer, or a concealer base to it it'll
be more vivid and it won't crease or go away, nor would it look
all powdery or flaky.
Cream eyeshadow is oily, if it spreads it could cause acne.
If you want the eyeshadow to last you put a small amount of water on your brush, and then put it on your eyelids. The cream works for a short time, but it normally all ends up in the creases.
i like cream more. i don't wear eyeshadow often but i do love bobbi brown cream eyeshadows! they stay on forever..i think the powder ones are harder to apply, well at least for me. hope this helped!
