You and she should only be concerned with the shelf life of mascara and liquid eyeliner.
To avoid infection, mascara should be discarded after six months maximum.
Liquid eyeliner should only be used for special occasions and still needs to be discarded after six monoths maximum. Better yet, an eyeliner pencil is safer and less likely to cause an eye infection.

Generally speaking life for open containers is anywhere from a year down to a matter of weeks. Since the containers will be closed no germs can get in so I would say they would last longer. Which is not to say that some could dry out. However it could be a little more than a year before things go wrong. As soon as you open them they will last the standard amount of time.

Well technically speaking you can keep makeup as long as you'd like but it isn't necessarily sanitary to do so. generally eyeliners, eyeshadows, anything near the eyes should be replaced every 2 months maximum (the eyes are sensitive) - mascara especially should be changed every 6 weeks max, because it contains plenty of bacteria to start! talk about an easy infection) lipstick can last up to max. 2 years, and foundation, powders and bronzers should only be kept a maximum of 6 months. it's too bad makeup has such a short shelf life- but all the more reason to have fun with it while it lasts ;) and sephora is amazinggg! it's good quality =)
Glitter will last alsomst forever if it is not the liquidish kind of glitter, lipstick on the other hand only lasts one or to years if that
